Paul Adler was a product of Immanuel College and represented the State at Under 19 level. He played as a full back in the Reserves premierships of 1975 and 1976 and was high in the best players in the two grand finals. However his early days of League football saw him play as a full forward.

Adler was Norwood's leading goal kicker in 1977 with 78 goals which included a haul of 10 goals 6 points against West Torrens at Football Park.

In the same year, he was named at full forward in the team that defeated East Perth in the Ardath Cup Grand Final.

Adler played his 100th League game for Norwood in 1981 and was a member of the 1978 and 1982 League premiership teams, starting on the bench in both grand finals.

By the end of his career he had found his way back into defence and became a very reliable defender, mainly as a half back flanker, providing the team with pace and rebound.

In 1983, he was transferred in his employment as teacher to Bordertown and at the relatively young age of 26 retired from League football.

Playing for the Bordertown Football Club in the Tatiara Football League, Adler was soon involved in another premiership in 1984.
