Olaf Bode played 20 games for the Norwood Under 19's in 1981. The following season he played another six in the Under 19's and 16 in the Reserves. He was the Reserves' leading goal-kicker in 1982 with 38 majors.
 
Bode played in a pre-season trial against Richmond (VFL) at the start of 1983, but unfortunately seriously injured his knee two weeks later in a trial against Central District at Tanunda.
 
He played 17 games for the Reserves in 1985, and another 17 in 1986, taking his total to 50. The Redlegs won the 1985 and 1986 Reserves premierships and Bode was named in both grand final squads.
 
During 1986 the forward also made his senior debut for Norwood in the Escort Cup pre-season series and played a total of four league games for the year.
 
After transferring to South Adelaide, Bode added another 24 League games (1987-88).
 
He later joined Greek-Camden in the South Australian Amateur Football League, representing his state in 1990.
 
Olaf is the father of current Norwood captain Jace Bode.
