Geoff Brabham attended Prince Alfred College and played for Princes' First 18. He was runner-up in the 1949 James Gosse medal - awarded to the best and fairest player in the Adelaide Students' Football Association.

The centreman/centre half-forward was invited to train with Norwood in late August 1949, with a view to possibly debuting for the club before the end of the season.

In 1950 he impressed as a centre-man in the pre-season trials and then at Reserves level. He found it difficult however to break into the strong Norwood line-up. Coached by the legendary Jack Oatey, the team went on to win that year's premiership.

Brabham was named as a reserve on several occasions, but ultimately only appeared in two League  games. He made his senior debut against South Adelaide in Round 5 when he was named as 20th man.

Brabham's last game was also against South Adelaide (Round 12) having initially been selected as a reserve. Norwood easily won both of the League games in which he appeared.

He then played in the 1951 pre-season trials, including a practice match against the East Torrens Association team.
