Peter Brenchley transferred to Norwood in 1960, after three seasons and 29 games with the Melbourne Football Club. Despite limited appearances with Melbourne, he played in all three grand finals for the club between 1957 and 1959, winning flags in 1957 and 1959.

He was quick, aggressive and fearless and played mainly as a rover in his two seasons with Norwood.

Continuing his run of playing in grand finals, Brenchley played in Norwood's loss to North Adelaide in the 1960 decider.

In 1961 he went on to also play in Norwood's Grand Final Reserves' Premiership, and then returned to Melbourne the following season.

After leaving the VFL, Brenchley played and coached in the Victorian Football Association, controversially receiving a 12 match ban for striking an umpire in 1966.
