Robert Bungay was born on 26 August 1915 and recruited from Cherryville. He was a very determined half back with a long kick and a good mark.

Bungay was originally named as 19th man in his first League game, against South Adelaide. Norwood won the Round 4 clash, 15.13 to 13.18.

He was at half-back for his last League game, also against South Adelaide.

Struggling to hold a regular League spot, he played most of the 1936 season in the Reserves.

Bungay was selected at full back, and was one of Norwood's best players, in its one  point loss to West Torrens, in the Association (Reserves) Preliminary Final.

Robert Bungay later enlisted in the Royal Australian Air Force and served as a Leading Aircraftman during World War 2
