Originally from Campbelltown High School, Chris Fienemann won the 1971 Norwood-North Association Colts medal, while playing for the Athelstone Football Club.

In 1972 he continued his secondary school education at Kings College and was a member of Norwood's Reserves Premiership team.

The following year he made his League debut against Sturt, and in 1974 was named at centre-half forward in the Redlegs' Reserves Premiership side that defeated Glenelg by six goals at Football Park.

In 1975 Fienemann was a member of the State Reserves team that travelled to Alice Springs. He was named in the centre for Norwood's 1976 Reserves flag, and was a member of the 1977 League team that defeated East Perth to win the Ardath Cup.

The high point of the wingman/forward's career was playing in Norwood's 1978 Premiership side. Selected as a half-forward, on a line that included Brian Adamson and Roger Woodcock, he was part of Norwood's nail-biting one point win over Sturt, in the Redlegs' centenary year.

A cartilage operation in mid 1980 saw him miss the rest of that season, and in 1982 he returned to Athelstone.

Chris Fienemann was a fine clubman, who also played over 100 Reserve games for Norwood between 1972 and 1981.

Chris' father Eric played three games for Norwood in 1945, and his brother Michael served on the Norwood Board from 2002 to 2006.
