Charles William HOOPER
Charles William Hooper was born at Gumeracha in 1884, the second son of Mr. John Hooper of Queen St Norwood. He was educated at Prince Alfred College and graduated with degrees of B.A. and B.Sc from the University Adelaide.
Hooper played four League games for Norwood in 1903 and was later employed in Wallaroo in the assay office of the Wallaroo and Moonta Mining and Smelting Company.
He enlisted in the 10th Battalion, Australian Imperial Force and embarked for overseas in June 1915. Hooper served at Gallipoli and rose to the rank of Captain before he was killed in action in France in July 1916
