Little is known about C Huntington, who was in and out of the Norwood team in the disappointing season of 1885. Norwood History Group researcher Michael Coligan believes he may have been Charles Ernest Huntington, who was born in Sydney in 1862 but had two known links with Adelaide.  His elder sister, Mary, married Edward Saunders and they lived in the Adelaide suburb of Malvern.  His brother Aubrey John Huntington, born in Sydney in 1870, was the Chief Clerk of the Adelaide City Council in 1903 and lived in Fifth Avenue, St Peters.  Charles, a painter, married Marian Fogarty and from 1903 until his death on 10 September 1943 lived in the Melbourne suburbs of Richmond, Cheltenham and Beaumaris.

C Huntington played in the opening match in May 1885 as Norwood beat Adelaide, 5.15 to 1.2.  For the second meeting with Port Adelaide that season, in July, Norwood was without Roachock, Wilson and Jervis, replacing them with "Bertram of St Peter's College, and Huntington and Tonkin, who had previously 'sported silk' for them this year" (The South Australian Advertiser).  Norwood won 3.8 to 2.12 at Alberton.
In August, Huntington played against South Adelaide, which took a firm grip on the premiership with an 8.11 to 4.5 win. In September, in the absence of Roberts, J. Bisset and Huntington, Norwood tried several colts in going down to Adelaide, 6.8 to 1.12.

In 1887 Huntington apparently played for Hotham (later North Adelaide).  The only references to him found were when he was absent from the team, with Hotham losing to Norwood by seven goals to one in June and to Carlton 11.20 to 2.4 at Adelaide Oval in July.

Huntington was a member of the Triton cricket team which won the Goodfellow Challenge Cup in 1884-85.

[Charles, Mary, Annie and Aubrey Huntington were the children of William and Annie (Vickers) Huntington.]
