Peter Johnson was a competent player with good skills but was not as big as his father, Brian, the Norwood ruckman, and  found it difficult to hold a regular place in the league team.

A Naracoorte boy, Peter was born on 23 September 1963. At 188 cm and very lean, he played mainly as a permanent back pocket in his 13 league games from 1985 to 1986.

He was an above-average seconds player, kicking seven goals in 80 games between 1982 and 1987. He became a Reserves premiership player in 1985 when Norwood defeated Woodville 25.15 to 9.9. While at Norwood he was a university student and worked with AMP. He moved to Sydney to further his career in retail employees superannuation.

He played a couple of interleague matches there but found the football very different, with  players having to mow the oval and mark the centre square and boundary lines before the start.

Married in 1990, he retired from football to attend the sporting needs of his three daughters.
