In 1996, Benjamin Knights played 15 games for the Norwood Under 19 team, including the side which was beaten in the Grand Final. The following year Knights made another 12 appearances for the Under 19's, played in the premiership win against Woodville-West Torrens and was the recipient of the Meritorious Performance award.
 
The high-leaping Knights made his Reserves debut during 1997 and was named in the 20 which was beaten by Port Adelaide in the 1997 Grand Final.
 
In 1998 the Norwood Reserves went one better by winning the premiership; Knights played 16 games during the year.
 
Knights' League debut was in Round 2, 1999 when he played four senior games for the year. He had another solid season in the Reserves and was again recognised with a Meritorious Performance award.
 
Unable to hold down a regular spot in the 2000 League team, Knights only played four senior games for the year, but reached his 50 game milestone for the Reserves.
 
In 2001, Knights had an impressive season with the Subiaco Football Club in the West Australian Football League, playing 18 games and topping the club's goal
kicking list with 38 majors.
 
Knights played another 11 League games for the Redlegs in 2003, making his last senior appearance against North Adelaide in the final match of the minor round.
The Redlegs ran out winners : 18.12 to 13.8.
 
His mother Julie, is a Life Member of the Norwood Football Club. She was appointed Norwood's physiotherapist in the mid-1990's, and continued in that role until 2009.
 
Ben's father Peter, played over 250 VFL games for Hawthorn where he had a stellar career as a centre half-back, and is a Hawk's Legend. 
 
Ben later worked for ABC television in its coverage of SANFL games, and he also had a stint coaching the Pembroke College first 18.
