T B Lindsay went by his middle name Bruce or nickname Buck. He was born and bred in the Norwood area. In 1934 he was the captain of the Saint Peters College football team and the next year went to the Adelaide University to study dentistry. During that time he played football for the university in the Amateur League.

Upon graduating and like many people at the time, his football career was interrupted by the war. He joined the RAAF as a dentist stationed first at Mallala and then Darwin.

After the war he was back in Adelaide and attempted to resume his football this time at Norwood. He was given the opportunity to play one game for Norwood as a full forward.  He kicked two goals but was subsequently dropped the next week.  He then came to the conclusion that with a wife whom he had barely seen in their four years of marriage, a young family and the need to develop his dental practise he retired from playing and became a keen follower of the Redlegs from the grandstand.
