Trevor Marano joined Norwood from Campbelltown High School and progressed through the club's under-age teams. In 1977 he represented the state in the schoolboy carnival held in Sydney. During the season he also played 17 matches for the Under 17's, taking out the club's best and fairest award.

The following year he played 18 games in he Under 19's, kicked 41 goals and was runner-up in the best and fairest.

He made his league debut in Round 7, 1979, against Central District at the Parade. An excellent kick on the run, Marano was a quick and well balanced midfielder.

In 1980 he played in the Norwood Under 19's premiership team, which defeated Port Adelaide 25.14 to 13.17, in the Grand Final.

In 1981 he transferred to Mount Gambier, playing in a grand final with South Gambier.

Marano returned to Adelaide to play with Athelstone in 1982, and resumed with Norwood in 1983, playing two league games and 17 in the reserves. He then added another 10 senior games in 1984.

Persistent injuries hampered his playing career and during his time at Norwood Marano also found himself competing for a roving spot with the likes of Rob Barton, Neil Craig, Gary Menzel, Michael Nunan, Trevor Sapwell, David Serotzki and Terry Von Bertouch. As a consequence, he only managed to play 13 senior games for the Redlegs.

He later had a coaching stint with the Tanunda FC (Barossa and Light Association) in 1994.

In 1995-96 he returned to the Parade and coached the Norwood Under 17's
