Allan Miller was born at Stirling West in the Adelaide Hills on May 18 1933. His junior football was played with South Adelaide Colts where he played for two seasons including a reserve grade game.

Miller commenced with Stirling Football Club in 1951 when it became too onerous to commute to South Adelaide to train and play. His career in the Hills Association spanned 237 games over 14 seasons and included six premierships and 14 representative matches in the Lovelock Shield interleague competition.

In 1959 he trained with Norwood and impressed coach Allan Killigrew with strong performances in a night trial game against North Adelaide and in his first two reserve games.

He debuted in round three of the 1959 season in the back pocket against West Adelaide at the Parade and went on to play two league matches and five reserve grade games.

As with his junior days at South Adelaide, transport difficulties to and from the Adelaide Hills took its toll and in mid 1959 he returned to play with his home town Stirling, representing the club for another five years.

Allan Miller is the elder brother of Norwood's legendary Hall of Famer, Wally Miller.
