Originally from Solomontown in Port Pirie, Peter Minervini was a strong left-footer who played predominantly as a rover or wingman for the Redlegs. A clean ball-handler with an accurate kick, he was well suited to playing either position.

Minervini made his League debut against Sturt in round three 1956; Norwood winning a close game, 12.15 to 12.9.

In 1957 he returned home and subsequently won the Recorder Medal playing for Solomontown, as the fairest and most brilliant footballer in
the Port Pirie Football Association.

In 1958 he was a member of the Norwood team which won the Advertiser Cup (Night Series) defeating South Adelaide in the Grand Final, 13.15 to 12.15. He was also named in the Norwood teams that played against visiting VFL clubs, Geelong and Footscray, at the end of the season.

The following year, his fine club form was rewarded with interstate selection and he travelled to Western Australia. Minervini also represented the state seconds against Port Pirie in the same season.

In 1960 he was a key player in Norwood's first Reserve Premiership in 21 years, beating Port Adelaide on the Adelaide Oval.

Together with "Big Bill" Wedding and Glen McMahon, Minervini formed Norwood's first ruck division in the 1961 "turkish bath" grand final against West Adelaide. Played in very hot, 35C conditions, Norwood ultimately were defeated by 36 points. Minervini and fellow rover Robert Oatey were among Norwood's better players. At the end of the season Minervini was awarded a Player's Five Year Certificate, and named the club's best rover.

In 1965 Peter Minervini transferred to West Torrens where he added another 15 League games to his career total.
