Glen McMahon joined Norwood from Port Victoria/Minlaton in 1958 and made his League debut in round 2, against West Torrens at the Parade. McMahon started on the bench and Norwood ran out winners 9.17 to 7.9.

In 1959 he played 16 senior games and was named the League team's most improved player.

Originally a half back flanker, he turned into a tough and inspirational ruck-rover.

McMahon was strong, courageous and keen to protect his team-mates on the field. He combined very well with legendary knock-ruckman Bill Wedding, and rovers such as Haydn Bunton and Robert Oatey.

McMahon played his 100th game, after seven years of senior football, in 1964. He retired from League football at the end of that season, having played in the losing Grand Finals of 1960 and 1961.

Only able to train once a week, he had been commuting from Port Vincent, from where he operated  a transport business.

After retiring as a player, McMahon became a member of Norwood's Management Committee in 1968, and served continuously as a committeeman until appointed President in 1974; a position he held until 1981.

Outside of football, Glen McMahon had business interests in many different fields including transport, waste disposal and farming.
