Recruited from the Athelstone Football Club in 1966, Warren Packer was a fine club man who played senior football at Norwood for 10 seasons. The quick, well balanced ball-getter played most of his football on the wing.

In 1970 he won the club's Most Improved Player award and by 1972 had made the State squad. He went on to play his 100th game in Norwood's 1975 Premiership season. It was a much deserved milestone and a testament to his determination, as he also played a lot of Reserves football during his time at The Parade.

Named as an emergency in the 1969 Reserves Grand Final, he was high in Norwood's best players in the  Reserves Premiership wins of 1974 and 1975.

Packer transferred back to the Athelstone Football Club in 1977, winning a flag in his first season.
