With the outbreak of World War II, Ralph did not play League football again until 1945, when he added another nine games with Norwood, as well as representing South Australia against Victoria on the Adelaide Oval on July 7 1945. SA won by 52 points, and he impressed playing as a half back flanker.

Later in July 1945 he was transferred by the RAAF to Victoria, where he played four games for Essendon in the Victorian Football League, on a war time service permit.

At the end of the season he was selected in a combined team of West Torrens, Port Adelaide and Norwood players that met a combined RAAF team made up of Victorian League and interstate players . Played on the Adelaide Oval, the locals won the game 17.22 TO 17.13.

His final League match was Norwood's 28 point Grand Final win over Port Adelaide in 1946. He played on a half back flank and was high in Norwood's best players.

Harry Ralph continued his career with Norwood Reserves and played his last game in 1949.
