Bert Selth played football for the Norwood II (Reserves) side throughout 1910 and kicked two goals its win against South Adelaide in the South Australian Association Grand Final. 

Selth commenced the 1911 season in the Norwood IIs but was promoted to the League side and played four games for the year. A forward player and regular goal kicker, he continued to play for the second side from 1912 to 1915. 

Selth enlisted in the Army in February 1916 and was posted to the 11th Field Ambulance in April 1916. In May of that year he played for the 11th Field Ambulance with a Norwood team mate, Noel Suhard, in a charity game against the SA Railways Club with proceeds "in aid of soldiers' home comfort". Later that year he embarked for France where he was gassed in 1918 and eventually discharged in 1919.
