Lewis Stevenson began his senior football with Claremont in the WAFL. He had progressed through Claremont's junior system, notching up 85 League games between 2008 and 2012 and was drafted by the West Coast Eagles in the 2008 Rookie draft.

Originally better known as a mid-fielder, he developed into a running defender, and made his AFL debut in 2010. Whilst he made 10 appearances for the West Coast Eagles in 2010, he was unable to regain a place in the side.

Despite being a very impressive and consistent performer in the WAFL, and playing in two premierships, Stevenson was traded to Port Adelaide Power at the end of the 2012. The Norwood Football Club then selected Stevenson with pick eight, in the 2012 SANFL mini-draft of players listed with the two local AFL clubs.

Stevenson was a valuable contributor for Norwood in his one season at the Parade, making 14 SANFL appearances when not required by Port Power. Playing in defence, he was high on the list of best players, as the Redlegs went "back-to-back", defeating North Adelaide in the 2013 Grand Final : 10.12 to 4.8.

When the SANFL was revamped in 2014 with the introduction of Reserves teams for the two AFL clubs, Stevenson was aligned with the Port Power Reserves, Port Magpies, and played against Norwood in that year's SANFL Grand Final. In a classic encounter on the Adelaide Oval, the Redlegs managed to hang on and win their third flag in a row.

Delisted by Port Power at the end of 2014, Stevenson joined Sydney University, in the North East Australian Football League (NEAFL)
