Terry Von Bertouch was a highly skilled rover who started his league career with North Adelaide in 1967. He was a member of North Adelaide's premiership teams of 1971 and 1972, as well being in the side which won the 1972 end of season, Champions of Australia series. After 162 games for the Roosters (1967-1974) and 11 State games, Von Bertouch made the decision to retire from league football, at a relatively young age.

During the 1975 season he joined the Proprietary Football Club in the Spencer Gulf Football League. He continued to play for Proprietary in 1976, commuting from Adelaide each weekend.

In 1977 he returned to League football, joining ex team-mate and Norwood coach Bob Hammond, at the Parade.

Cleared in late March, Von Bertouch made his league debut for Norwood, against Sturt, in the opening round of the season.

Now 28, he had not played senior football since 1974. Von Bertouch was a member of Norwood's 1977 Ardath Cup Grand Final team, which defeated East Perth, on the Norwood Oval.

In 1978, Norwood's centenary year, he played in the thrilling one point Grand Final victory against Sturt, at Football Park; it was to be his last game.

He has since been credited with having the first kick in Football Park's opening league match, between North Adelaide and Central District on May 4, 1974.

Von Bertouch is the father of prominent netballers Laura and Natalie (married to Norwood premiership players James Gallagher and Jace Bode, respectively). His son Matthew played Under 17 and Under 19 football at Norwood.

Terry Von Bertouch  was inducted in the South Australian Football Hall of Fame in 2010.
