Tim Weatherald joined Norwood, after an outstanding career with the Sturt Football Club. A diminutive midfielder, he played 253 league games for the Double Blues in a career spanning 13 seasons. Weatherald made his league debut as a 17 year old, having played his early football with the Bridgewater Football Club and Prince Alfred College.

He played a big part in Sturt's 2002 Premiership. Not only did he win the club's best and fairest award, but he was also the recipient of the Magarey Medal.

After completing the 2008 pre-season with Sturt, Weatherald was advised that his spot in the league team was no longer assured and he decided to retire. He then chose to play on however, after Norwood and a few other SANFL clubs showed interest in his services.

Joining the Redlegs, he played his first game for his new club in Round 8. Despite his late start to the season, Weatherald still finished third in the best and fairest award for 2008. His good form continued, and he was runner-up in 2009.

Weatherald played his 300th SANFL game in 2010. He made his final appearance for the Redlegs in that season's grand final loss to Central District. In 2012 he returned to Norwood as an assistant coach for the Reserves team.
