Vale Robert Oatey

29 September 2019
The Norwood Football Club would like to extend it’s sincere sympathies to the Oatey family after the sad passing of former player and coach Robert.

Robert Oatey was the epitome of courage both as a player and a leader. Like his famous father Jack, he goaled with his first kick in league football and went on to coach Norwood.

In 1970 Robert was awarded Life Membership at the Norwood Football Club, which epitomised his undivided commitment and love for the red and blue.

Oatey is a Norwood and SANFL Hall of Fame Member and led Norwood’s goalkicking from 1967 to 1969.

Oatey played nine games for South Australia and finished runner-up to Barrie Robran for the 1968 Magarey Medal.

Robert played 232 league games from 1961 – 1973 with the Norwood Football Club before transferring to Sturt in 1974.

The Club’s thoughts are with wife Raelee, son David, daughter Petra and other family.

Vale, Robert.
