Regarded as the best man in the team at Kensington, a good kick and mark, direct in his play and brilliant runner with the ball, he represented the South Australian Natives in a loss against St. Kilda at the Exhibition Ground on 26 August 1877. In 1878 he played further representative games for South Australian Natives against Victorian Residents on 11 May and for the association against a Combined Country team at the end of August.
