HALL OF FAME - D'Antiochia, Jerry

Jerry D'Antiochia

(1986 - 1999)

Jerry D'Antiochia was a product of the Payneham Football Club and Norwood juniors. A clean ball-handler and calm under pressure, he was a very consistent performer throughout his career. Whether as a creative on-baller or later as a no fuss defender, the popular  D'Antiochia got the job done.

He was a member of the 1983 Under 17 premiership team, and was named Best and Fairest in the Under 17 side that went through undefeated in 1984.

Making his League debut in an Escort Cup match against Woodville at Balaklava in 1986, he had played 28 games by the start of 1990.

During that time he was part of a Reserves Premiership in 1986, and was named the Reserves Best and Fairest for 1987.

Hampered by injuries along the way, D'Antiochia persevered and was named the 1994 Club Champion.  He also won the E.A.Johnson service award and
played his 100th League game in the same season.

He then won a Meritorious Performance award in 1995, and became a Player Life Member the following year, as well as being named the Woods medallist.

1997 was to be a memorable year for D'Antiochia. Not only did he finally play in a League Premiership after 174 games, but he was also adjudged the player of the finals.

In 1999, his 14th and final year of League football, he played his 200th game and was recognised with the Jim Tummel Outstanding Qualities award.

We proudly welcome Jerry D'Antiochia as Norwood's 63rd Hall of Fame inductee.
