BIO
James Aish was born on 8 November 1995 and attended Concordia College in Adelaide. The son of former Norwood player Andrew Aish, James made his league debut against Central District at the Elizabeth Oval on 31 March 2012.
The young gun slotted easily into the senior side, showing no signs of nerves or of rushing his work.
James was a member of the 2012 Grand Final team which defeated West Adelaide and, at 16 years 334 days, became the youngest SANFL premiership player.
A member of the AIS-AFL Academy, he was able to play for the Redlegs for two seasons, including another premiership, before being drafted to the Brisbane Lions with their first selection in the 2013 AFL draft.
A clever and skilful midfielder/half back, James played for the Brisbane Lions (32 games, 2014 -2015) before transferring to Collingwood (50 games, 2016 -2019) and later, Fremantle (104 games, 1920-2025).
While on Fremantle’s list he also represented Peel Thunder in the WAFL in 2024-2025 ( 14 games)
James retired from AFL football at the end of 2025.
James is the youngest of a famous dynasty at Norwood as his grandfather Peter played 162 games (1953-1962) his father Andrew 89 games (1981-1986) and his uncle, Michael featured in 307 games (1979-1993) and won the 1981 Magarey Medal.
