BIO
In 2002 James "Jimmy" Allan captained the Geelong Falcons (TAC Cup) and was named in the Under 18 All-Australian
team at the completion of the AFL National Championships. He was rookie-listed by the Geelong Football Club in 2004 and played for the Werribee Football Club (VFL) over the following two seasons.
Transferring from Lara (Victoria) in 2007, Allan played 117 games for North Adelaide, winning three Magarey Medals and five consecutive best and fairest awards. The classy midfielder helped the Roosters make the 2007 Grand Final, and represented his adopted State on two occasions. After a stellar career at North Adelaide Allan returned to Victoria in 2013 and captained the Lara Football Club in the Geelong Football League.
Allan decided to return to Adelaide in 2014 and eventually signed with the Redlegs after negotiations with North Adelaide
broke down. He had immediate success at the Parade, with the Redlegs winning their third premiership in a row.
Allan showed that he had lost none of his ability to find space, read the game or to use the ball to advantage. A high possession gatherer, he was impressive in his first season with Norwood.
The year was not without incident however, as he suffered what had appeared to be a season ending wrist injury late in the minor round. Fortunately, he was able to return after surgery in time to play in his first SANFL premiership. In one of the more exciting Grand Finals of recent times, the Redlegs defeated arch-rivals Port Adelaide : 12.10 to 11.12.
Allan played another 15 games in 2015 but was somewhat surprisingly dropped from the senior side late in the year.
The following season he transferred to the Pembroke Old Scholars Football Club. (South Australian Amateur Football League, Division 3). He tasted premiership success once again, this time as a playing assistant-coach. Allan was appointed coach of Pembroke for the 2017 season (South Australian Amateur Football League, Division 2)
