BIO
Rob Barton had played seven seasons of League football with Sturt before he made the decision to move to the Norwood Football Club. He made 133 senior appearances for the Double-Blues, and played important roles in their 1974 and 1976 premiership wins.
Barton was Sturt's number one rover at the time of his transfer and his last game for Sturt, played in their one point loss to the Redlegs in the 1978 Grand Final epic. Joining him at the Parade in 1979, was Sturt team-mate Bruce Winter.
Unfortunately, Barton was unable to recapture the same form with Norwood. He only made eight senior appearances in 1979, four in 1980 and 10 in 1981.
Barton led the Reserves goal-kicking in 1980 with 27 goals and in 1983, coached the Under 19's to a premiership.
