Trevor Bell was recruited by Norwood in 1980 from Wangaratta Rovers/North Melbourne, in Neil Balme's first season as coach at the Parade.
 
He was cleared to Norwood in April but had not done a proper pre-season, and after sustaining a knee injury, returned home in mid-1980.
 
Bell returned to Norwood in 1981 and made his League debut against West Adelaide during the 1981 night series.

Playing primarily across the full-back line, he kept his spot in the league side for most of the year.
