Norwood recruited Craig Binder from the West Perth Football Club. A solidly built half back flanker, he had made his WAFL debut in 1984 and by 1988 had played 25 senior games for the Falcons - 15 of those in the 1986 season.
 
After playing some Reserves football for Norwood in 1988, Binder had two seasons in the country, before returning to the Parade in 1991.
 
His first senior game for the Redlegs was against North Adelaide in the 1991 Foundation Cup pre-season series. Having struggled to maintain a regular league spot, Binder's last match was in the same series, two years later.
