BIO

Mackenzie Bower was born in Adelaide on 27 January 1996 and attended Marryatville High School.

He played football at High School and also joined the Payneham Norwood Union FC, playing at under age level. He joined Norwood as a junior in the the under 12 competition and progressed through the under 16s in 2011 and under 18s in 2012-2013, before gaining selection in the Reserves in 2014.

Bower made his senior debut in the Foxtel Cup game against the West Coast Eagles aligned WAFL team , East Perth, at Subiaco in May when the Redlegs were defeated by 50 points but he did make the scorecard, kicking one goal.

Variously bearing the nicknames Maccy B, Baby Dog or Bowz, he continued with the Reserves until 2016 when he finally made his SANFL league debut on 30 April against Central District at Elizabeth; the Redlegs suffering a seven goal loss but he was named in the club’s best players .

Bower continued at Norwood until he retired in 2022 having played 44 league and 96 reserves games for the club. At 191cm and 88kg he was a versatile utility with a strong overhead mark who could play forward or back. 

He  moved to South-East South Australia in 2023 playing with Border Districts in the Kowree Naracoorte Tatiara Football League and was part of the team which broke a  32-year premiership drought with a win against Kingston in the grand final. 

After continuing with Border Districts in 2024 he returned to his junior club Payneham Norwood Union in 2025.
