BIO

Bill Chapman played his early football at St Peter's College and with Norwood's Colts. He then spent three years with Adelaide University in the Amateur League, representing the State Amateurs in 1964, and being named in the All-Australian amateur team in 1965.
 
A skilful and agile knock ruckman, Chapman improved rapidly after making his League debut in 1966.
 
In 1969 he led the first ruck in Norwood's Reserves Grand Final win over Port Adelaide. However, his appearances were restricted by injuries and medical studies and after graduating he moved to New Zealand in 1971.
 
His last game for the club was the drawn match at Alberton against Port Adelaide in the last minor round game of the 1970 season. The result meant that Norwood narrowly missed playing in the finals.
 
Chapman attempted a comeback in 1972, but was eventually forced to retire due to his professional commitments.
