BIO

Stephen "Mono" Connelly played his early football with the Gawler Central Football Club. Moving to Central Districts, he made his league debut for the Bulldogs in 1983. A highly skilled, smooth moving left footer, with seemingly endless stamina, he was well-suited to playing as an on-baller, changing on a half forward flank.

At the end of the 1986 season, the Brisbane Bears (VFL) chose Connelly as one of its pre-draft selections. However, after making 69 appearances for Centrals between 1983 and 1986, Connelly somewhat surprisingly moved accross to Norwood.

Connelly, who had already played interstate football for South Australia, joined the Redlegs in 1987, along with Steve Richardson and Stephen Rowe.

He only played one season of league football for the Redlegs and despite playing a few games for the reserves in 1988, he made his last League appearance for Norwood in the 1987 preliminary final loss to Glenelg.
