BIO
David Dickinson was a quick and talented centreman for Mypolonga in the River Murray Football League. Extremely dedicated and determined, he won the Under 17s Mail Medal in 1980 after having been runner-up twice in the Under 15s.
After colts football for Mypolonga he was lured to Norwood and progressed through the ranks. A red-headed 177 cm wingman or centreman, he had very good skills and was a brilliant underage player but, in the view of Norwood guru Wally Miller, “unfortunately had no self-belief at all and found it difficult to assert himself in league ranks. He was good enough but very shy and reclusive.”
David played 17 senior games for Norwood, including six cup matches, and kicked five goals. He also kicked 34 goals in 48 games for the reserves from 1983 to 1986.
In 1986 he switched to South Adelaide and became a consistent player there. He later played for Yankalilla.
