BIO

Dickson was a Norwood junior. In 1953 he won the best team man award for the senior colts.

The following year he played in the senior, pre-season trials and won a spot on the seconds training list. After some impressive displays with the reserves, mainly as a ruck rover, Brian was promoted to the league side for the match against West Adelaide in late June.

His next four games set the tone for his league career. He played ruck rover against West Adelaide, half back against Port, half forward against Sturt and then was back in the seconds. His ability to be used as a utility meant he often filled in for league regulars such as Gallagher and Williams when they were injured.

Dickson’s first senior season ended in the seconds grand final against West Torrens and a disappointing one point loss.

During the first half of 1954, Brian’s first season, Norwood used 30 players in its league side which made his task of settling into a regular position very challenging.

Brian’s value to Norwood is well illustrated by him being awarded, services rendered awards for both the league side in 1955 and the seconds in 1957.
