BIO

Richard Douglas played his early football for the Broadford Football Club in country Victoria and the Calder Cannons in the Victorian under 18 competition. He was drafted by the Adelaide Football Club in 2005 and was subsequently picked up by Glenelg in the SANFL mini-draft.

Douglas made his SANFL debut with Glenelg in 2006 and after some impressive performances made his AFL debut towards the end of the year.

Over the next 14 seasons Douglas played 246 games for the Crows. The consistent midfielder rarely played a poor game, and was the Crows' best and fairest in 2010.

In 2011 he represented Australia twice in the International Rules series against Ireland.

Douglas joined Norwood for the 2020 season once his AFL career was over, bringing important experience and expertise to the squad. In his first year at The Parade (14 games) he tied with Brad McKenzie for the club champion award, the Michael Taylor Medal.

Douglas continued his fine form in 2021 (19 games) and was runner-up in the Norwood's club champion voting.

He later returned to Glenelg as an assistant coach for the 2023 season.
