BIO

From Lobethal in the Adelaide Hills, Alexis Georgiou joined Norwood as a junior in 2004, and progressed through the ranks. He played a handful of games for the Norwood under 17s and one for the under 19s in 2006. He was captain of the 2007 under 17s (21 games) and was named best team man.

In 2008 he was runner-up in the under 19s best and fairest (20 games), and the following season won the coaches trophy in the reserves. A reliable defender, with an excellent work ethic, Georgiou was rarely beaten.

He made his league debut in round 12 of the 2010 season and made 14 senior appearances in his first year together with 10 games in the reserves.

The hard working full back was named the best team man in 2011 (23 games), and was runner up in the 2012 best & fairest (22 games). More importantly he played a key part in Norwood's 2012 SANFL premiership. The Redlegs easily defeating West Adelaide in the decider.

His career continued to flourish, and in 2013 he was again in the best players as Norwood went "back to back" premiers accounting for North Adelaide in the Grand Final. He also won the coveted Woods Medal (21 games) and played interstate football.

He was selected by Melbourne in the 2014 AFL rookie draft, but after seven appearances and one year with the Demons, he returned to The Parade for the 2015 season.

Georgiou was named captain for 2015 (16 games) and, as co-captain for 2016 (18 games) he reached his 100 game milestone.

In 2017 he was named best and fairest (19 games), and added another 40 games in 2018/2019.

Georgiou then returned to the Lobethal Football Club (Hills Football League).
