Matthew Hallandal was a small onballer/forward who came through the Norwood system with merit and played one senior game, a Fox-Tel Cup match against East Perth in 2014.
Born on 24 October 1996 in North Adelaide, he accepted a Norwood invitation to join the under 13 development squad and played junior football with Tea Tree Gully until he was 16.
Known as Matty, he celebrated under 16 and under 18 premierships at Norwood. He won Norwood’s best and fairest award in the under 18s in 2015. He played seven games for the under 16s, 43 games with 13 goals for the under 18s, and 23 games with one goal for the reserves in 2014-15.
In his Fox-Tel Cup game he had two kicks and four handballs as East Perth won 9.11 to 2.3.
After leaving Norwood at the age of 19, Matthew played about 90 senior games with Tea Tree Gully, helping the club win a Division 1 and a Division 2 premiership.
In 2023 he was living in Cairns and playing with the North Cairns Tigers.
