BIO

A solidly built half-back flanker with clean hands, Lex Hambour was recruited from King's College, where he was captain of the First 18.  He played two seasons with King's Old Collegians in Amateur League and was a member of that club's A3 premiership team in 1967 before beginning at The Parade.

He was progressing nicely as a regular half-back flanker before suffering a career-ending ACL injury.  Knee reconstructions were not then available.

A teacher and a keen recreational sailor, Lex was born in Adelaide on 9 June 1947 to Roy and Lean Hambour.  He died on 30 March 2025, survived by children Tom, Ben and Pia.
