Sidney Harris was a fleet-footed rover, with a beautiful kick and a good disposer of the ball.
In 1937 was named the Reserves Fairest and Most Consistent, and was a representative in the Inter-Association Reserves team.
He was named best on ground in the 1937 and 1938 Reserves premiership sides that defeated Port Adelaide, on Thebarton Oval.
Sidney was born to Walter Harris and Mary E. Baum at Birkenhead on 18 April 1914. He enlisted in the Royal Australian Navy on 14 May 1934 and was discharged on 1 May 1957 as a constable with HMAS Penguin. He married Dorothy (Dolly) Emms in Melbourne in 1945. They moved to NSW and lived at Lakemba. Sidney worked as a Naval Dock Policeman and died about 1977.
His sister Dorothy was the grandmother of Simon Goodwin, the Adelaide Crows dual premiership player and Melbourne premiership coach.
