BIO
A skilful half-forward/wingman/on-baller, Malcolm Heppell transferred to Norwood for the 1998 SANFL season.
The former Richmond Reserves player had previously represented Victoria at Teal Cup level. In 1997 he had been part of the Tigers squad that went on to win the VFL Reserves premiership.
The following season he joined his older brother Martin (1996-1998, 10 NFC games) at the Parade. Malcolm Heppell made his League debut in Round 7,1998, against North Adelaide and played another four senior games during the year.
He also played in the 1998 Norwood Reserves premiership alongside his brother. The Redlegs defeated Port Adelaide 11.14 to 8.13. Malcolm was named as a ruck-rover, and Martin was selected on a wing. Both players had good games with Malcolm adjudged the best player on the ground.
Both brothers were the recipients of Meritorious Performance awards for their efforts in the Reserves during the season.
