Recruited from Teacher's College, Bill Hutchinson had spent four seasons in the Amateur League while studying at University before joining the Redlegs in 1967.
He had topped the Amateurs A1 goal-kicking list in 1964 and 1966 and also represented the state Amateurs in 1966.
The slightly built, elusive half-forward flanker made an instant impact at Norwood, being adjudged the club's Best First Year Player as well as the Best Forward in 1967.
