BIO

Tom Hyde was a true red-and-blue man who later went on to celebrate five premierships with the Waikerie Football Club.

Born at Modbury on 6 October 1974, Tom attended Modbury Primary and The Heights schools. He played for the Modbury Football Club and was involved in skill squads at Norwood from the years 8 to 10.

He was coached by the brilliant Ian Stafford in the Norwood under 17s and by Andrew Schofield in the under 19s in 1991, when Tom captained the premiership team.

He played his first league game at 17 in 1992 and continued until 1994, kicking seven goals in 15 games.  He also kicked 15 goals in 16 reserves games.  He was a defender in his junior years and later played forward and back on flanks and in pockets.

After Norwood he went back to Modbury as it entered Division 1 in the amateurs.  He spent two years there before moving to Waikerie, where he played more than 200 games in the River Murray Football League.

Tom is in the irrigation business and still lives at Waikerie.  He is married and has a son a daughter.
