BIO
Matthew James transferred to Norwood from the Woodville-West Torrens Football Club for the start of the 1995 season. He had played 33 league games (1991-94) for the Eagles, and joined former team-mates Todd Davey and Troy Clements at the Parade.
James played six senior games in his first year with the Redlegs, and was an important member of the Norwood team which trounced South Adelaide by 78 points in that year's Reserves Grand Final.
The solidly built mid-fielder was capable of also playing in defence, but struggled for regular opportunities at league level and ultimately played over fifty games for the reserves in his four seasons with Norwood - in that period the club appeared in all four Reserves Grand Finals.
He was named in the centre for the 1998 Reserves Grand Final which saw Norwood defeat Port Adelaide by 19 points. James played 12 senior games during the season
