BIO
Gerard Leahy was born in Murray Bridge, and played for the Murray Bridge Imperial Football Club. He joined Norwood in 1975 and had two solid seasons of under 19 football before progressing to the seniors. In 1975 he played 20 games for the under 19s and a further 15 games in 1976.
He was elevated to the reserves in 1977 (19 games), and made his league debut in round 15 of that season.
After playing three league games in his debut year, Leahy added another two in 1978, and also added another 22 games for the reserves.
Leahy was named in the 22 man squad that went on to easily defeat West Adelaide in the 1978 Reserves Grand Final.
Predominantly a defender, Leahy was a solid and reliable team man.
In 1979 he played another three league games and won the Reserves best and fairest (21 games).
The following year, he once again played most of the season in the Reserves (19 games and three league games).
Leahy then left The Parade and joined the Athelstone Football Club in the South Australian Football Association (1981-1982, 38 games).
