BIO

Sidney Loader was invited to train with Norwood in March 1937 after playing for Payneham in the East Torrens Football Association, where he had impressed Norwood officials as a ruckman/forward. Loader equalled the Association record by kicking 29 goals in one outing.

Loader was selected on a half forward flank in the Norwood B's 1937 Grand Final victory against Port Adelaide on the Thebarton Oval.

He made his League debut in Round 2, 1938. He was named on a half forward flank and although Norwood defeated West Torrens comfortably he was dropped after that one game. It proved to be his only senior appearance; his chances of playing regularly hampered by the presence of champion forwards, Bruce Schultz and Ron Brown.

Moved to full forward in the third round of the 1938 season, Loader had an extraordinary year as a goalsneak for the Norwood B's.
An accurate kick and safe mark, he proceeded to break all B Grade records. He kicked 130 goals for the year, 117 of them in the minor round, including 21 in one game.

In July 1938 he was selected to play for the combined Association (B grade) side against Broken Hill. In August he kicked 14 goals for the Association side against Port Pirie.

Loader kicked six goals in the 1938 B Grade premiership decider. Norwood had come from behind to lead Port Adelaide late in the game. A Magpie player had a shot from 35 metres after the siren but, fortunately for the Redlegs, he kicked into the man on the mark and Norwood won by three points.

At season's end, Loader travelled to Renmark with the Norwood B's where the Redlegs had a win and he kicked another six goals.

In 1939 Loader returned to Payneham and played in a losing grand final, despite kicking 8.6 in the decider against Exeter.
