BIO
Roy Lonergan joined Norwood from Western Australia in 1928. At 18, and having already played two league games for East Perth as a wingman, he decided to play for Norwood after his family transferred to South Australia.
He was a stylish footballer, and was a good exponent of the stab kick.
Lonergan was also a very good shot for goal and played his only game of league footy for Norwood against North Adelaide when his opponent was State full-back Percy Lewis
Born on 6 December 1909 in Maylands (Perth) and educated at Christian Brothers College, Lonergan first played A Grade District cricket in Western Australia when only 15. After moving to South Australia he became one of the State's leading batsmen during the 1930's.
Roy Lonergan passed away in Adelaide on 22 October 1956
