BIO
Woodville 1876-77
Aged twenty-one Tom Letchford had been the youthful Woodville secretary in 1876 when appointed to a committee to adopt the Victorian Rules in South Australian football. A Woodville delegate to the South Australian Football Association, he represented the club as a player in the inaugural year of SAFA in 1877. As Norwood’s heavyweight he gave good service at centre forward although criticised for not using his strength sufficiently. At the same time he was also a good place kick and handy tackler who played 12 games and kicked 1 goal in 1878.
