George Matic joined Norwood in 1969 via Norwood High School, Stirling Football Club in the Hills Association, and Hectorville Football Club.

He made his league debut against Woodville in round one 1969.

Skilful and athletic, he was a good mark and a long kick, playing most of his football as a wingman or full-forward.

Matic was named on a wing in the reserves 1970 grand final win over North Adelaide.

During the 1974 season he left Norwood for West Adelaide, but only added one more league game at his new club.
