BIO
John Meesen was drafted by the Adelaide Crows with pick number eight in the 2004 national draft. He had played his junior football with Modewarre in Victoria and with the Geelong Falcons Under 18's. Norwood then selected him in the SANFL mini-draft, and he made his SANFL League debut in Round 1, 2005.
A 200cm athletic ruckman, Meesen was a steady performer for Norwood in his three seasons of SANFL football. 2006 was his best season for the Redlegs, playing 20 games, and winning a meritorious performance award.
Meesen struggled to get into the Crows side which already had three ruckmen on its list, but finally made his AFL debut, late in 2007.
Hampered by injuries and subsequent lack of form, and after playing only two games with the Crows, Meesen was traded to Melbourne at the end of the 2007 season. He added another four games with the Demons, but was again plagued with injuries and was delisted at the end of the 2010 season.
