BIO
After playing two games for the Norwood under 17s in 2005, Hugh Minson was selected by Port Adelaide Power in the end of season AFL national draft.
He remained tied to the Redlegs under the local agreement between the SANFL teams and the South Australian AFL clubs and played 18 games for the Norwood Reserves in 2006.
The ruckman impressed in the 2007 trial games and subsequently made his league debut in the opening round of the SANFL season, ironically against the Port Adelaide Magpies. He played five senior games in his debut season and his last league appearance was also against Port.
Early in the 2008 season, and only 20 years old at the time, Minson was forced to retire from football after battling persistent chronic knee injuries.
Elder brother Will played junior football at Norwood to under 18 level and was drafted to the Western Bulldogs in 2002. He played 191 games for the Bulldogs from 2004 to 2016.
